I have used Serif Photoplus and related products for years, I also used to use Roxio, and I have used others.

I was thinking I need something better, Photoshop is very expensive, but I have seen Photoshop elements recommended and 8 is out now, as I am getting Windows 7 next week it would be good as it mentions it.

Then I saw a good review for Serif Photoplus x3, now I am confused, and there is another one that is cheaper than the full Photoshop, is it by Corel? Which photo package? Icon_rolleyes

So what do you have and why, and which should I go for? Which photo package? Icon_question I have a digital SLR that takes RAW as well as JPG. I haven't really used the RAW images yet, and hope to get a more up to date camera soon too. Which photo package? Icon_flower

It's all a bit lost on me but hubby has a DSLR he bought earlier in the year (Nikon D90) which he loves. This takes images in RAW files and he needed something that would work with these. He has just bought Photoshop elements 8 and is now scratching his head trying to work out how to use it, Which photo package? Icon_rolleyes He bought it from Amazon and I think it was about £57 so not too bad really. Before that we used Picasa and also Photosuite which I believe is now called Roxio. These ones I can cope with Which photo package? Icon_biggrin

I think Roxio was good but is not so good now it covers all things. My version is probably too old to use now. I was looking at it on Amazon, did find it cheaper but you had to be a student or teacher!

Good luck in choosing Carol - there are so many out there. Some sites allow you to download a trial version before buying - so perhaps that option may be good.
Adobe is excellent with everything you need in it. I personally use Corel - have done for years. I have the full Corel Draw package that has all the different programmes in it.
Corel actually makes Adobe too if I am not mistaken - but they just pushed Adobe more and so more popular now.
I would be lost without my Corel. I do have adobe elements 8 too but have really played with it to know how good it is
Good luck and let us know what you choose in the end. Smile

I use photoshop elements and love it. It is versatile and good fun. I found it a bit confusing at the beginning with all the layers etc, but went on an on-line tutorial and haven't looked back since. I have even done some digital scrapbooking using it with some of the free kits that are out there.
I tried Corel through work but it seemed to completely eat up my system and reduce it to a crawl and although I liked some of the paint effects etc, I never really got to grips with it so for the time being I am sticking to Photoshop elements.
