1 Awful weather on Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:34 am

Not only was it awful yesterday, and really awful trying to drive home in it, it is awful today too. It looks like the pergola has snapped, don't know how himself will sort it out as it has wisteria growing all round it.

Now the leaves are down one nest has come down but the other precarious looking nest is still up there complete with abandoned egg. I think I will avoid walking under the pergola and nest for a while!

It's pretty awful this weather we are getting at the moment hope it isn't going to last too long. A friend of mine had their garden flooded last night. They live down the bottom of the hill right near the river which is tidal. So what with the rain, excess water running down the hill and a high tide she was up to her knees out in the garden. Fortunately it didn't get into the house and with the turn of the tide it's now all gone.
There is somemthing to be said for living up a hill. lol!!

According to the weather forecast thing on my PC we are having rain and windy wind, followed by showers this evening. Windy wind is right!

We don't suffer from many floods thankfully, just the town getting cut off. That hasn't happened for a few years now. Our friend the other side of town lived in a old mill house next to a stream and got flooded regularly on one level. They have moved now and split up not in that order.

I'm glad your friend didn't get it in the house. My brother should be alright he and new SIL are on a hill in Wales, well they are actually still on honeymoon in Tunisia, but you know what I mean!

It's really awful. We are on top of a hill so thankfully don't have the risk of flooding, but we are an old detached farmhouse with little protection and the wind whistles down the chimneys and round the house and sounds horrendous

We're at the top of a hill too so we don't get problems with flooding either and no chimney for the wind to whistle down but I do have to take the dog out later so I hope it's calmed down a bit out there by then.

I went out with the dog about an hour ago and it wasn't too bad. At least it was dry if a little blowy, it certainly blew the cobwebs away.

I got away with it Julia. It just stopped raining as I went out. It was pretty cold though even with my hundred layers on.
