Card selling Advice

Morning ladies

I have a couple of questions about selling cards. I have never sold any cards before, I was just wondering how much is a reasonable amount to charge for a card, I tend to make the bigger square cards and I am just about to start making a few more easel cards now I know how to make them lol Any advice would be much appreciated

It depends on where you might be selling them me dear!

I sell mine in a shop in Norwich & I have to give them a small commission so have to "add" a bit more on.

But if I sell them where I pay nowt, I tend to drop the price a bit.

I ask anywhere between 50p to £3.00 for mine.

Thank you, It really does help. I have never sold cards before I generally make them for family as in birthday cards for them. Or I pop them in a box for when they may be needed. So when some one asks if they can buy some I get a little embarrassed lol and don't feel I should charge, I hate asking people for money.

Now this might sound really silly, but I don't very often give one of my cards to friends or family, I feel silly doing so!

lol we have these odd ideas at times. I always think my family will be nice on receipt of one of my cards and if they don't like it they wont say lol But I must admit I have never made a card for my sis in law as she is a crafter too and I really wouldnt know what to say if she didn't like my work. Where as a stranger well I don't need to see them again lol

I started off selling cards when I was working in London, I charged £2 and put half to the Tsunami charity fund. I sold quite a few. Those were C6 size, and later I wanted to make bigger and better cards and I charged more depending on amount of work or materials. I put them in bags, put a warning about not giving to small children to play with in the bag etc. When I was no longer going to London someone there sold them for me, I just had to get them there. Trouble is that has passed to someone else now, she keeps saying there aren't many people left to sell to and I have asked for the stock of 50 cards back if that is the case but haven't had them yet.
I have a basket on my desk at work and sell the odd one, but I don't have many there. I have done a few commissions for bigger personalised cards and I charge £5 upwards for them. I keep making big leaving cards for colleagues or special birthdays but I have been doing that for nothing lately. I still put £1 per card to charity so I suppose I could drop the price and not give the donation. I recently sold a couple of cards while on a course and the tutors who bought them suggested I should drop into their office block occasionally as they were sure the ladies would like to buy some cards but I haven't yet.

Generally at craft fairs mine sell for about £2 - £2.50 but if its a more detailed card like the easel card for example you can defo ask for more hope that helps
Go on places like folksy and etsy and see how much cards sell on there for of the same design, it just gives you ideas x

I am pleased to say that I have sold some cards this very day and some post it note holders, although one person has said I am charging too little, I just get a bit funny about charging people too much I think the next lot I will put a bit more on them if they don't go then I have the option of lowering the price I guess.

Well done you! I once made a commissioned card for a church blessing, I had very short notice, a couple of days, and I tentatively asked for £5 but the person was so pleased with it she insisted on paying me £10 though that doesn't happen often!

Those are a great idea and they are very nice Dazie. I wonder if they would sell at work for prettying up ladies desks. I may have to try some when my head is better.

I am not sure I would be any good at doing a tutorial lol, but basically if you google post it note holder freebie template and then look through the images that google comes up with there are lots of different templates some that you can add pens to some that close up. I have just found this one for you

I have now sold all but one I made 5 in total They make great gifts for teachers too, I shall be making some more for end of year and putting a pen with the too
