I went along to my local carer's place a few weeks ago, wasn't sure what to expect, but they were offering courses and you had to register. So I suddenly found myself inside, talking to a lovely lady and filling in umpteen forms. But what was so nice was it was all about 'me', which may sound selfish, but when you are a carer you get used to being forgotten, all the attention goes to the person being cared for. So there I was, suddenly being asked what could be done to make my life easier, it was a shock. At the end the lady insisted that i booked myself in for some holistic treatment, massage, aromatherapy or reiki... I chose reiki. The centre pays for the first 3 sessions, after that there is a nominal charge. I've now had two sessions, the last was on Monday, and it was wonderful, just bliss to be pampered for an hour Laughing I also meditated for nearly 45 minutes, something I've not done for years. And in recent months I've found it impossible to meditate. But I emerged totally chilled.

Okay so within a few hours my family had managed to push back up my stress levels, but I did manage to meditate again.

Just want to promote this wonderful organisation, there may be others out there who are carers or who have recently found themselves taking on the role of carer. Just don't think you are alone, there is help and support out there. The main website is: www.carers.orgwww.carers.org

On that site you can find out where you nearest carer's centre is, and what they offer.

take care

Cassidy

My Mum is part of the carers too Cassidy, as my Dad had a mental breakdown about 8 years ago, because they bring up my neice and she is only 10 she is also part of the young carers and gets to have special trips and cookery lessons etc, a couple of years ago they took her and my Mum to Lapland!!!

So having organisations like this for people are a godsend Smile

It makes a word of difference having someone to talk to and to be pampered. I am passing this onto someone who could do with this thanks for the link. Very Happy
