Well I am a huge fan of Elsie Flannagan, constant follower of her blog and etsy stores and just love her style and her new store www.redvelvetart.com
That is until recently I finally found something I totally adored and ordered it, due to it coming from America you can imagine how much it cost me.
I ordered her camper kit range http://www.redvelvetart.com/craft/camper-kit so I can make a book, scrapbook page etc, when it arrived I was so excited.
Until I opened it that is, the outer packaging in the corner was all bent and due to this so was every single paper in there (all A4 size) so if I just said nothing it would have being a lot of paper I couldnt use!
Then the quality hit me, all of the printed papers are on the lowest value photocopier paper you can imagine!! I was gobsmacked to say the least!
An embroidery sheet was enclosed, it was actually a drawing of a caravan for you to copy and embroider, again on awful paper, and a template for a caravan to make a book, again was the same thing just bigger and on c*** paper!!
So I contacted them and said I wasnt happy, especially because of the damage, two emails later and the only reply I got was 'Oh how awful it is when the post damages parcel's' nothing else was said, no refund was offered.
So I contacted them again, and said due to the damage alone, am I able to get a refund or part refund. The reply I got was quite bluntly put 'another one is being sent in the post, confirm your address!!!!'
How rude is that, customer service was shocking, so I replied and said 'oh right, well do you want this one back!' and the reply from that was 'no keep it, thanks for the offer!!!'
I doubt I'll be buying anything from that store again!

Definately off putting to say the least Deanne. I recently nearly bought a kit from the USA but the postage was as much as the kit so I didn't bother as though it looked lovely and was being promoted heavily by Kirstie Wiseman it was a lot of money.

is that the studio calico kit, it is scrummy isnt, like you said its the postage i do love that kit though, what bothered me about the camper kit is that i finally treated myself to a kit from someone i admire in the crafting world and its pretty pants really and their customer service technique is way off mark! oh well we live and learn... next time i'll just buy the SC kit Laughing

That's awful Deanne, I think bad service is almost worse than bad products sometimes. I don't mind if things go wrong as long as the people I deal with are good at putting problems right. Mind you, I don't think sellers in the US realise what a hard time their parcels go through to get here, I had a package recently from over there and it barely made it in one piece but luckily nothing was damaged - I think commercial suppliers really need to improve their packaging!

How disappointing for you Deanne. Sorry it wasn't all as nice as you thought it was going to be and their after sales care sounds rubbish. Well they haven't just lost themselves one customer they've lost everyone who reads this too as no one on here is going to want to buy from them now! That will just serve them right for being so horrid! tongue to them!

Deanne, the law may be slightly different in the US, but I doubt it. The consumer is protected in the uk regarding online sales, basically you can return anything to the seller and get your money back. The goods do not have to be faulty either. You could check out US consumer law, it may be the same, in which caser they owe you your money.

Perhaps if we all sent an email to the company in support of Deanne it may carry a bit extra weight? Smile

I did look up US consumer law, and it is similar, online buyers are protected. They are probably hoping you'll just go away... I'm with Dee, think we should sign a group e-mail of complaint. Perhaps they'll note that we belong to a forum....

Distance selling regs - if you're dissatisfied then you have a certain amount of time to return it for a full refund.

UK kits are getting better Very Happy Very Happy

Seriously Dee, that kit was absolutely poo, don't go back there!!
