Anyone from the PCJ forum may remember that I posted up about my elderly neighbours.

The old lady passed away today from a stroke.
It leaves her 96 year old hubby on his own.
They have ben wonderful neighbours and they were so full of life and happy - they were married 71 years on last boxing day. How amazing is that!
Anyways I know she was old - she didn't suffer and we were expecting it, but didn't know when - but it doesn't make it any easier. My heart is saddened watching her hubby trying to keep himself busy so he doesn't think about her.
I do realise that this is the circle of life - but still am sad.

Thanks for listening.

So sorry to hear this news Debbie. 71 years together, that is so wonderful but he will be lost without her, at least he has you - the most fabulous neighbour and I know you'll do all that you can for him.

Thank you all so very much for your very kind words, I really do appreciate it. I think the best thing I can do for him is to give him my time..sit and chat to him as long as he wants to. He is pretty good at doing the housework etc bless him.

Thanks again ladies.

How sad............... my thoughts are with him and you. Reminds me of an email I received some time ago about a little boy who sat with his neighbour who had lost his wife. When his mom asked what they talked about he simply answered, nothing......... I sit and cry with him.
Thank you for sharing this with us and please give him my sincerest condolences.

That is sad, and I can relate to it. We had some elderly neighbours who lived in the flat below us, they were always arguing, but they cared for each other very deeply. He was also lost when she died, it was so sad...

I didn't want to say, but with my neighbours, they both died within weeks of each other. He simply couldn't cope with being on his own.

There are no words, my thoughts and prayers will be with him on Friday.

Debbee - I 'm so sorry to hear your sad news and wish you and especially your neighbour huge hugs and strength for Friday, it will be a difficult day but I'm sure he will appreciate your support.
I lost my Dad's godparents ( who I was very very close to) a couple of years ago, they also died with in a few weeks of each other and it was very hard.
On a positive note, you may remember that my MIL died last year - well FIL is coping really well and he had to learn housework washing cooking etc so your neighbour has a head start there.
I'm sure your neighbour will really appreciate your company and support.
