Hi All,
Does anyone know any good sites or tutorials to show me how to tie good knots and bows?
I get all clumsy and make a real hash of doing this every time and end up buying them and wasting my lovely stash of ribbons!
Thanks,
Elaine x

when i tie a knot ellie i have my card upside down to tie the ribbon for starters then twist the card so its now the right way up then tie again to form the knot and i use this way for a bow too Smile
i'll do a mini tutorial on that but other than that wicked idea anne about you tube Smile so if you find any good links post them on here Smile

You can buy bowmakers that come with instructions and make different size bows. If trying to get the effect of ribbon tied round a card with a bow put the ribbon on seperately to the bow, tie a bow and stick it to the ribbon afterwards!

Debbi Moore (not our Debbie) once said she ties "bunny ears" i.e. make the ribbon into two loops with tails then tie one ear over the other. I do that too. No knot before that though.

The bow makers are quite good. I don't actually have one - well not a bought one anyways. I ahve a small block of wood with large nails hammered part of the way in and set at different distances apart to beable to create various sized bows. Cheap skate me - no never..lol..it does work for me though. Smile

Thanks for all these tips - I'm going to have a lush bow on my next card!!
I especially like the bunny ears tip (now that I'm the proud owner of a lovely baby bunny - see pic)!
Thank you!

I can't see the pic Elaine, but I can see a blue line. We do get gremlins from time to time with photos! Glad you managed to do the bunny ears though.

Cazzy - not sure she posted a pic up, if you look at all the replies above they all have a thin blue line near the bottom. I've never noticed this before - definately gremlins Tutorial request - ribbon tying Icon_twisted

Hi cazzy - sorry for the confusion - I meant the bunny in my profile pic! He's called Mr Bunny (not very original I know!) and he's my new child replacement!
Had a go at bunny ears bow tying last night and it does work well - strangely enough it's also the way I was taught to tie my shoe laces so I'm not sure why I didn't think of it earlier!
Thanks!

Hi. Yes i would say look on You Tube too. I have a bow maker that i bought from the Glitter Girls site. Its a plastic base with different width pegs that you tie your bows round. Its simple, effective and does not cost much. I think Crafters Companion have one in their range too
